Varieties of Lettuce Grown By Lapham's Living Lettuce

At Lapham's Living Lettuce, the bulk of our crop is Boston Butterhead or Bib lettuce, but there are twelve other varieties and a few mixes that have also worked well in our deep water culture or raft hydroponic system.
We have grown lettuces such as:
  • Romaine or Cos type
  • Fancy leaf
  • Red Oak leaf
  • Oak leaf
  • Loose leaf
  • Arugula
We are excited to announce that we will be growing a variety of hydroponic vegetables this season as well as some others in soil. New produce for this season should include:
  • Several varieties of tomatoes
  • Several varieties of melons
  • A few types of squash
  • Onions
  • Basil
  • Beans
  • Peppers
Our growing season is well under way and the excitement is rising as our greenhouses fill up and spring approaches!

Lapham's Living Lettuce: Mt. Pleasant, Michigan

Lapham's Living Lettuce is operated out of Lapham's Garden Center. Both are located in Mt. Pleasant, MI. Started in 2008 by Joseph Lapham, Lapham's Living Lettuce grows primarily Boston Butterhead or Bib lettuce in commercial greenhouses owned by brothers Mike and Ron Lapham.

The wonderfully crisp hydroponic Lettuce grown at Lapham's are pesticide free hydroponic vegetables and uses a general nutrient solution which is mixed primarily with recovered rain water from their greenhouse roofs via a gutter connect system and topped off with filtered well water.

Sure to Grow cubes are the medium of choice for this commercial greenhouse hydroponic lettuce grower. No need to worry about sure to grow or STG cubes affecting your pH, they are sterile and they encourage massive and rapid root growth. Starting Lapham's Living Lettuce, in Mt. Pleasant Michigan was my pet project. A lot of homework, research and experiments took place before ultimately settling on STG (sure to grow) cubes for the production of Lapham's hydroponic lettuce. STG cubes are great, they don't fall appart like oasis cubes. Having cleaner lettuce means less work for consumers and less potential problems with pests and disease.

If you havn't tried Lapham's Living Lettuce, you are missing out on some of the freshest, best tasting, pesticide free hydroponic lettuce available anywhere!
